I had a suggestion for radheef.com, so i mailed it to admin@technova.com.mv. .still no reply from em,not sure they even recieved it...any way......ideas develop from what ever we have experienced or have known....so, im sure ... if we discuss it with more people....the ideas will be much better... here is the mail...for you to comment (and come up with even better ideas?) about my idea.
Your radheef's descriptions says;
"This Radheef is based on the excellent work by the National Center for Linguistics and
Historical Research - Maldives and uses the word/definition data that appeared on it."
but i dont believe in that...almost no new words have been added to that since the time of mohamed ameen...who actually made this radheef thing.and the so-called bas commity is not doing enough...when i was writing to some paper (mostly... translating from english to dhivehi) ..i faced lots and lots of problems....and that is ...when my editor was a member of this bascommity...according to him...the bas commity is not working as it must..the problem is letters from raees office comes to this commity too.for example he said..in dhivehi..'emme' is written as އެއްމެ and އެންމެ...but there was a difference of oppinion..and discussions were going on...then came a letter(from the presidents office) ...so..he asked me to write which ever way i feel is better...and that is because it our language.And yet another problem...there were times when i couldnt find a dhivehi word for newly used words..i cant use a sentence..so..he asked me to make new words...it might be used in the whole media after sometime..indeed fathuruverikan and farumaa are words popularized by the media.So, you see...like this and in other ways there are so many new words born...there are slang words..and youth words...words which come from the prisons and are later accepted by the youth and then it becomes a commonly used word.and im sure ; you (as tech-guys) will also have problems in dhivehi language.all these days we were waiting for an online , free,radheef...and you did it for us.Thank you.Thank you.Thank you.....but how about an open-radheef...ok ...an open radheef might have problems..but how about a new radheef..which is update..i mean we can ask scholars (true scholars of language)...we can get help from journalists...or there might be other ways... here are some similar projects....

I think we should add everyday Dhivehi words to the Radheef instead of a committee sitting and creating words and getting approved by the President.
How about "intoal". Now although that is a corrupted form of "interval" in our country it is not a period of time. It is something we either give or drink "intoal bonee" or "Intoal dheyn school doshah dhi un".
Or how about "karu sathu naamaa" hehe
how about we abolish the dhivehi language? and if not 'abolish', then demote it to a symbol of heritage and revert to using english in all official documentation?
a very good idea.but if the society doesnt acceept it...what to do...i dont support, doing it like a facist government does.no,we need to get publics oppinion about it...and i dont think many will agree now ,becasue...though gayom have never worked for it..he always propagated that he is the protector of national unity,islam, and dhivei language (hence;'islaam dheenaa dhivehi bas - dhivehi gaumiyyathuge bingaa')...now this is successfully infused in to people's mind...
and one good reason for doing what u suggested is....it will broaden our thinking...because we can gain more...and express more...the importance of playing around with language is well known... (hope u've read 1984)...that is indeed a very very good idea...but abolishing...no damn it...its too precious for me.i cant agree.
Hello. I maintain radheef.com and sadly we didn't receive the said email from you as our servers were acting up last month...
The radheef is a direct data copy of the published radheef cd by NCLHR. It is common knowledge that the radheef along with most of the things cultural, historical and linguistic in this country hasn't made any progress over the past so many years and have crumbled to near extinction. And as persona-non-grata said, it might not be a bad idea :P Dhivehi is pretty much a defunct language, greatly lacking in academic, scientific and philosophical literature/discourse - all essential food for a thriving society. One may very well demote Dhivehi for purely entertainment purposes as an culturally obsolete curiosity...
Anyway, as for your suggestion, several others have suggested the same and we plan to open up the radheef sometime this month...
