The old British generation were famous for their cold cutting zingers, including the late Queen Mother. Americans have come and spoiled it with their tactless and blatant sense of humour. Anyway, I heard that Naibuthuthu (or some other such poet) once lauded a much-hated King with a flowery praise-filled raivaru. Only much later did the King realise that the first letters in the 6 verse-raivaru spelled 'Ka Ley A Maa Fu I'. By then Naibu was conveniently out of reach. Sadly I dont have any evidence for this. If its true Naibuthuthu was certainly a crafty sardonic wit of the old on-the-spot-Raivaru-reciting school. Source of the anectode? Anyone?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15640161.post-56209652399874620322008-02-04T04:55:00.000+05:002008-02-04T04:55:00.000+05:00Hahhaha! That's nice!Hahhaha! I come from Huvadhoo Atoll where it is quiet common as you all know. Trust me it sometimes gets very nasty!! Nasty enough that would not want to be there with your kids or relatives.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15640161.post-85306664291065868252008-02-03T18:18:00.000+05:002008-02-03T18:18:00.000+05:00hehe. Especially in the form of raivaru it is creative also. I wouldn't agree with you on that uncivilised part. Since anger, frustration and jealousy are human emotions is there a better way of showing those emotions better than in the form of a zuvaabu like this. ThHrow the box cutters and bombs guys. The drug addicts should learn raivaru and perform gang raivaru zuvaab scenes. That would be more entertaining .<BR/>We could only wish if Palestanians and ISraelis, Anericans and the rest of the world can resort to this method of fighting than killing each other. The current rhetoric between Iran and America is a good example , Bush and Ahmedinejad every day are pulling rhetoric dances everyday and the neat thing is there won't be a war ( If the historical masters of diplomacy - Persians resort to this, I would say this is the preferred technique to show your disgust of the other party).Vishahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08085617198172915809noreply@blogger.com
